Jeff Bender is a writer from Philadelphia.

His writing has appeared in Fence, Electric Literature, The Iowa Review, Guernica, McSweeney’s, The Hard Times, Points in Case, Slackjaw, and The Offing. He’s a Senior Writer at Sports Riot.

He’s the winner of Hugo House’s New Works Competition and an Artist Trust grant. Residencies include Jentel Artist Residency (Banner, Wyo.), The Edward F. Albee Foundation (Montauk, N.Y.), the Norman Mailer Center (Provincetown, Mass.), Seattle Arts & Lectures, and Columbia’s School of the Arts, where he got his MFA.

His screenplay ‘Archery,’ co-written with David Englander, won honors from the Austin Film Festival, The Rhode Island International Film Festival, and the PAGE International Screenplay Awards. This September he’s presenting at the Phoenixville Film Festival, and he just joined the writing staff of a half-hour comedy.

A former Division-I athlete and musician, he now lives outside Philadelphia with his wife and kids.
